Edesheim has 2300 inhabitants and an are of 16,3 km². It was first documentally mentioned in 756 as "Autineshaim".
The catholic church of St. Peter and Paul is a baroque building from 1742, enlarged by a side nave in 1934, the interior is from a rearrangement in 1811.
The former episcopal palace is a former water castle that was extensively destroyed in 1794 and partly reconstructed in 1810.
Kupperwolf palace is a two floor building of late baroque architecture.
