Kleinkarlbach has 900 inhabitans and an area of 2,7 km². It was first documentally mentioned in the 1th century by "in Karlebach inferiori villa".

The protestand church of Saint Nicholas is a gothic building of the 15th century, expanded in the 18th century. Interior paintings are made by Adam Schlesinger in 1781.

Numerous medieval timbered houses are located next to the Eckbach stream in the main street.
