German Wine Route: Weisenheim am Sand

Weisenheim am Sand has 4400 inhabitants and an area of 13,7 km². It was first documentary mentioned in 771 as "Wihsa".

The protestant church has a choir steeple built in the 12th century, it was extended in the 14th century, the nave is a baroque extension from the 18th century.

The catholic church of St. Lawrence is a neo gothic building from 1866.
