Bornheim has 1250 inhabitants and an area of 3,5 km². It was firt documentally mentioned in 900 as "Brunheim".

The catholic church of St. Lawrence is a baroque church built in 1750, remaining ribbed vaultings from a former church in the sacristy, crucifix made of stone from 1753 in front of the church.

The protestant church is a baroque building from 1765.

Bornheim has numerous timbered houses, mostly of the 18th century.
