Knoeringen has 480 inhabitants and an area of 2,5 km². It was first documentally mentioned in 775 as "Snoringen".

The catholic church of St. Philipp and James was built in late baroque architecture in 1771, the altar is from construction time.

The protestant church was built in 1787.
